Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor TPMS Activation Tool EL-50448 OEC-T5
For vehicles equipped with a 315 or 433 MHz Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system, a "Sensor Re-Learn Procedure" must be performed after tire rotations, Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Module replacement or Tire Pressure Sensor replacement. This re-learn procedure can be performed by using special tool EL-50448.

Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system through instrument panel instrumentation (IPC), body control module
(BCM), four radio frequency transmitting pressure sensors and serial data circuits perform the tire pressure monitoring system read-in mode function. The sensor read-read procedure must be performed after each tire shift, body control module change, or sensor replacement. Once the reread mode is enabled, each sensor's unique identification code will be read into the body control module memory. When a sensor identification code is read in, the body control module causes the horn to beep to indicate that the sensor has transmitted the identification code and that the body control module has received and read in. The body control module must read the sensor ID in the correct order to determine the correct sensor position. The first identification code read in is assigned to the left front position, the second one is assigned to the right front position, the third is assigned to the right rear position, and the fourth is assigned to the left rear position. The turn signals will illuminate separately to indicate the correct order of reading positions.
Use the EL-50448 or equivalent to diagnose sensor functions
Each sensor has a low frequency coil inside. Tire pressure monitoring is used in the enable mode to generate a low frequency transmission signal that activates the sensor. In the read-in mode, the sensor responds to the low frequency start by transmitting a signal. In the tire pressure monitor read-in mode, when the body control module receives a read mode transmission signal, the sensor identification code is assigned to the vehicle position corresponding to the reading order.
Sensor function - method of using pressure increase/decrease
In the quiescent mode, each sensor performs a pressure measurement sample every 30 seconds. If the tire air pressure increases or decreases by more than 8.3 kPa (1.2 lbf/in2) compared to the last measurement, a re-measurement is performed immediately to confirm the air pressure change value. If the air pressure does change, the sensor transmits in read-in mode. In the tire pressure monitor read-in mode, when the body control module receives a read-in mode transmission signal, the sensor identification code is assigned to the position corresponding to the order in which the vehicle is read.
Cancellation of reread mode
If the ignition switch is switched to the OFF position, or if no sensor is read for more than 2 minutes, the reread mode will be canceled. If the reread mode is canceled before the first sensor is read, the original sensor ID will be retained. If you cancel the reread mode after reading the first sensor, the following happens:
• All stored sensor IDs will be invalid in the body control module memory.
The driver information center will display a dash instead of tire pressure.
The DTCC0775 will be set.
At this point, these situations will require repeated re-reading procedures for the system to work properly.
Tire pressure monitoring re-reading procedure
Note: If you use the troubleshooter to enable reread mode, you must activate the sensor with the tire pressure monitoring tool. When using this preferred method, any other erroneous sensor signals will not affect the re-reading process. If a particular sensor message is displayed on a dedicated tool at startup, but the horn does not hum, this is because the sensor signal is blocked by another component, simply turning the wheel valve core to a different position.
If the re-read mode is activated using the driver information center button, you may want to use the tire pressure monitoring tool or the pressure increase/decrease method. Before using this method to execute the program, make sure that other reading procedures are not performed at the same time, or that there is no other vehicle equipped with the tire pressure monitoring system in the vicinity to adjust the tire pressure. Other vehicles that are monitored for tire pressure during driving may be erroneously signaled and thus read incorrectly. When you read the program, if you hear any of the speakers on the vehicle beep, it is likely that the wrong sensor has been read and you need to cancel the program and re-operate. In this case, it is strongly recommended to perform the tire pressure monitoring re-reading procedure away from other vehicles. If starting a particular sensor does not make the horn hum, this may be because the sensor signal is blocked by another component, just turn the wheel valve stem to a different position.
Preferred troubleshooter re-reading enable method
1. Depress the parking brake (manual transmission only).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and use the troubleshooter to activate the “Tire Pressure Sensors Learn” mode. If you hear two beeps from the speaker, the re-read mode is enabled. The left front turn signal will also light up.
3. Starting from the left front tire, with the antenna of the tire pressure monitoring tool facing up, against the sidewall of the tire near the rim of the valve core. Press and release the start button and wait for the horn to beep. Once the horn beeps, the sensor information is read in and the turn signal at the next position to be read in will illuminate.
4. After the horn sounds and the right front turn signal is illuminated, the remaining 3 sensors repeat step 3 in the following order:
4.1 right front
4.2 right rear
4.3 left rear
5. When the left rear sensor has been read in and the horn has also been hummed twice, the reading process is complete and the body control module also exits the reread mode.
6. Set the ignition switch to the OFF position and adjust all tire pressures to the recommended values. See "Vehicle Certificate, Tire Label, Burglar and Repair Part Identification Number Label".
Alternative driver information center re-reading enable method
1. Depress the parking brake (manual transmission only).
2. Set the ignition switch to the ON position and use the Driver Information Center (DIC) display control to initiate the re-read mode. The beep sounds twice to indicate that the reread mode is enabled and will illuminate the left front turn signal.
3. Starting from the left front wheel, start the tire pressure sensor in one of the following ways:
With the antenna of the tire pressure monitoring tool facing up, against the sidewall of the tire near the rim at the valve core. Press and release the start button and wait for the horn to beep. Once the horn beeps, the sensor information is read in and the turn signal at the next position to be read in will illuminate.
WARNING: Too much inflation can result in personal injury or damage to the tires and wheels. When increasing the tire pressure, do not exceed the maximum inflation pressure marked on the sidewall of the tire.
• Increase/decrease the tire pressure for 8–10 seconds, then wait for the horn to beep. After 8–10 seconds, the time to increase/decrease the tire pressure may cause the humming of the horn to be insufficient or last for 30 seconds. Once the horn beeps, the sensor information is read in and the turn signal at the next position to be read in will illuminate.
4. After the horn sounds and the right front turn signal is illuminated, the remaining 3 sensors repeat the steps in the following order?
4.1 right front
4.2 right rear
4.3 left rear
5. When the left rear sensor has been read in and the horn has also been hummed twice, the reading process is complete and the body control module also exits the reread mode.

The brand for Ford Cars, in the replacement tire pressure sensor or tire pressure alarm or exchange tires, need to carry out tire pressure reset operation.
Operation Method:
1: Set the vehicle into the tire pressure training mode (plug the key, step on the parking brake, the car keys from the off to open 3 times, and then step on the parking brake, turn off the car keys, and then from the off to open three times; training mode for the vehicle to start the state of the three consecutive dangerous alarm), if you hear the speaker sounded that the training mode has been enabled;

Operation Method:

4: When the left rear sensor has been read and the speaker is also also twice, the read process is completed and the body control module also exits the read mode.
